Welcome Father Whitestone

In our sorrow to see the departure of Father Kelly, St. Leo's Parish is delighted to welcome our new pastor, Father David Whitestone.

Father David A. Whitestone, newly appointed pastor of St. Leo the Great Parish in Fairfax and adjutant judicial vicar of the diocesan Tribunal, was born Aug. 5, 1962. He attended St. Mary Elementary School and Bishop Ireton High School, both in Alexandria. After graduating from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, he was ordained by Bishop Keating May 20, 1989. He studied canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome from 1991-93.

Father Whitestone served as parochial vicar at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More, 1989-91; St. Mary Parish in Alexandria,
1993-96; St. Louis Parish, 1996-97; St. Philip Parish in Falls Church, 1997-2000; and St. Mary of Sorrows Parish, 2000-01. He has also served in residence at St. Mary of Sorrows, 2001-03; St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 2003-05;
and St. Ann Parish in Arlington, 2006-07. He served as administrator of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Arlington, 2005-06. He has served on the diocesan Tribunal since 1993 as advocate and defender of the bond, judge, adjutant judicial vicar, and was named Arlington’s third judicial vicar in 2004.
