"Sacramentum Caritatis" - Apostolic Exhortation Released

The Apostolic Exhortation "Sacramentum Caritatis" on the Eucharist was released today in the Vatican as a follow-on to the 11th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops which was held in Rome in October of 2005.

Translated as "The Sacrament of Charity," the document reaffirms the Holy Father's insistence on the truth of love, says Cardinal Angelo Scola, relator general of the Synod of Bishops, clearly indicating that this is "one of the crucial themes upon which the future of the Church and of humanity depend."

The Exhortation is founded "on the indissoluble bond of three elements: Eucharistic mystery, liturgical action and new spiritual worship."
